Teacher Recognized For Exemplary Work

For twenty-one years Janie Medrano has helped children learn to love words, language, and school.  In recognition of her special skills in teaching preschoolers at Mi Escuelita Preschool, Ms. Medrano was awarded the Elaine Krause Award for Exemplary Teacher by the Dallas Association for the Education of Young Children on June 11. Tree Destroys Playground

A large Cottonwood tree has shaded the playground beside the administrative offices and classroom building at Mi Escuelita Preschool’s Crossover site at 4231 Maple Avenue for many years.  The rains on June 10th saturated the ground so much that the tree uprooted and fell on June 11th.  Fortunately school was out and no students were at the school. Volunteers Clean Up Storm Damage

A team of volunteers from Trinity United Methodist Church in Lindsborg, Kansas came to the rescue for Mi Escuelita.  With less than a month before classes start the 14 volunteers cleaned up the debris from the playground area and made sure that the playground will be safe for children to play on once school begins.  The Crossover playground was damaged during the storms on June 11th when a large tree fell crushing the playground fence and the equipment next to the fence. Mi Escuelita Graduation 2009

In May 217 bright, young faces listened solemnly as their names were called and they filed on stage to get their medal, a certificate of completion, and a big hug from their teachers. Read more

Eagle Scouts Contribute to Mi Escuelita

In Memory Of...

The teachers, staff, and students at Mi Escuelita’s St. Matthew’s site lost a good friend this summer when our volunteer Mary Gibson Nash passed away at the age of 43.  Read more

Intern Gives Mi Escuelita A New Online Look

Thanks to a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation, Mi Escuelita was able to hire an intern through the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program this past summer. Read more
